Paper is a sheet of dead plant matter, the brush—a dead squirrel’s hair, or if synthetic it comes from underground graves of prehistoric forests, its wood taken from a dead tree that grew on earth made fertile through the death of other things. The cycle of creation and destruction is a delicate balance.
