where do I end
and you begin
candle flame?
My mum used to quote an old saying, ‘There is not so much darkness in all the world, that can blot out the light of one small candle.’ She knew I was ‘highly strung’, as she used to call it. She repeated this until I learned it, long before I had my first depressive episode. I’m sure she intuited that I could use that saying. And I have. It has helped me light the darkest times. Thank you Mum. (She’s no longer alive, but I can still talk to her, can’t I? She’s not real big on answering though)
Today Chèvrefeuille of Carpe Diem prompts us to use a quote by the Buddha:
[…] “Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared” […]
my mother’s words:
lighting one candle
from another
IKR? They don’t always answer, once they are gone. Seems cruel and unjust but I don’t make the rules. Doesn’t stop us from talking to them…I agree. I have a feeling that they understand that talking to us would be a bad thing (for us), in many ways, but I still think they would like to do so, at least some of the time. I tell myself that the feathers I find on the ground are my love ones saying hello. It makes me feel better and no one can prove that it’s not true.
oh, how beautiful, connecting with feathers…
thanks
Cherish every spot of light even as given by a candle … light gives joy and happiness … beautifully said Belinda.

I love your mom. And she speaks to me through you.
that makes two of us 🙂 she was a very clever old thing. how nice to think of her still winning hearts. she was very funny sometimes too.
There must be humor to win my heart. Always. 🙂
I would like to believe that although we think our conversations (especially with parents that have passed) are not as silent as we would think – when we express ourselves through whatever creative form we chose. Their answers are right there in front of us.
Thanks for your visits to my Carpe Diem posts 🙂
certainly so much of creativity seems to come out of thin air, so who knows what hand they may have in it?
I haven’t been webbing a lot these past few weeks, but I read when i can… and i do enjoy your writing
“Happiness never decreases by being shared.” I think ALL good increases by being shared. And I enjoy the writing and images you share.
