Beginnings of regrowth —
things with tubers: bracken, blackberries, reeds,
pink and rusty new leaves sprout on the smaller blue gums,
some small fleshy seedlings poke through.
Kookaburras on and on about something. Us?
Blue wrens — small, dainty, fragile.
Where did they go when that firestorm raged?
Great photos and words, Belinda. Unfurling ferns just seem to say ‘new life’, don’t they. How close to your place are these photos?
maybe 10 k as the crow flies. the fires were closer, but this was a nice place to hang about.
Amazing photos. I really like the (bracken fern?) sprouting. It lifted my heart to weeping.
yes, it’s bracken. Such resilience.
It’s all over the world.
I’m glad to hear of the blue wren’s appearance. They are such lovely little birds!
yes, Carolyn, they lift your heart. a family of five were hopping around like nothing was different
I’m so glad those blue wrens survived…
I am amazed. They are so tiny.
My initial take on the first photo was a light dusting of snow in the dead of winter. I sure got that wrong! It’s nice to see the resilience of nature.
It would have been even more like snow earlier when the ash was still on the ground. we had one good rain immediately after the fires.
Aah, now I see.
Nice.
🙂
Beautiful photos, life from the ashes…( thanks for your lovely comments on my blog) x
I hadn’t been over to visit for too long. I really like your haiku. They are very well constructed and beautifully seen. your paintings too.
